I was wondering what Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken” would look like if he were to write it today in an internet-soaked age?
So, I took the liberty of re-writing it…
Two links diverged on a page,
And sorry I could not click both
And be one visitor, long I stared
And looked down the URL as far as I could
To where it bent in the long tail.
Then clicked the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was black and wanted wear;
Though as for that passing there
Had ranked them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In ads no finger had tapped to black.
Oh, I buffered the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads to way,
I doubted if I should ever scroll back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence;
Two links diverged on a page, and I –
I took the one less clicked by,
And that has made all the difference.
